The content on this page contains questions most frequently asked of our PTA Board members and/or at PTA meetings. Please let us know if there is an important question we should post.
Croce PTA strives to make every student, teacher, and parent experience the best it can be while Croce Elementary.
We know that this is a new program and there will be kinks to work out! Thank you for your patience and persistance! Have you tried one or all of the following?
If none of these have improved your situation, please contact us directly at eflyer@crocepta.com.
The state of California cut Croce’s (and other schools) operating budget by 70%. This is a reduction of funds in the amount of ~$50,000. Our School Site Council members reviewed the 2009/10 Operating Budget with this new funding and reduced or cut out as many administrative costs as possible to keep the majority of funds left going directly to student education. This also meant passing along some of the costs normally covered through school funding onto parents/guardians. At Packet Day parents/guardians were asked for a donation to cover the cost of workbooks and/or planners students use in the classroom. Those who could not make the donation will still be supplied with the necessary workbook/planner, but the cost will come out of the Operating Budget.
Livermore Residents also approved a Parcel Tax in our community during 2008. This tax maintains many programs our students now enjoy. At Croce this means that class-sized reduction for grades K-3 are kept to a minimum and our students have science.
The PTA has also worked cooperatively with the school’s administration in supporting programs which touch every child at our school. Croce PTA funds ~five hours per week for a computer technician, allocates funds to purchase printer cartridges, provides scholarships for students and teachers to attend the fifth grade science camp, provides testing snacks during STAR testing, allocates discretionary funds to each classroom teacher, and more.
Supporting Croce PTA is about more than funding fun family events, it’s also about funding core programs for our students. Please Join PTA, participate in fundraisers, register for Escrip, and come to PTA meetings to help allocate funds each school year.
All schools in the Livermore Valley Joint Unified School District have closed campuses. Because Croce's lay-out, it took a bit more effort and time to close the internal campus. The school district was able to complete the work to fully "close" the campus in the 2008/09 school year.
This decision was made to keep our students safe and visitors accounted for through the "sign in and sign out" procedure required at the front office. If there is an emergency during the school day, the front office can determine which visitors are on campus and ensure everyone is accounted for.
Yes, it seems like more and more children are coming to school with food allergies. The responsibility for protecting every student with food allergies rests with the parent/guardian the school, the student, and the teacher.
Yes, Livermore Valley can reach high temperatures during the first and last few months of school. In the 2007/08 school year, PTA purchased a 20’x40’ shade for the back playground. Students are encouraged to drink lots of water and find shade when they need it.
During the 2008/09 school year, Croce administration and Croce PTA worked cooperatively to develop a “Sun Safety” policy for our students. Children eat inside or in the shade if the temperature reaches 85° and/or the UV rating is 7 or higher on the UV scale. Students are also encouraged to wear hats, sunglasses, and sunscreen during their recess and PE periods.
Yes! Please sign into the front office and get a "Visitor's Badge"before walking onto campus. For the safety of our students, Croce is a closed campus. Click Here for the Bell Schedule.
Well, the answer is yes and no. The music program as it has been taught in years past is discontinued because our wonderful Mrs. Johnson retired. Students were able to say goodbye at an assembly during the 2008/09 school year.
However, Croce School purchased a program which teaches students about both art and music called FAME (Fine Arts Mini Experience). This is a volunteer-run program and though we have volunteers to provide instruction, gather materials, and assist we don't yet have anyone to LEAD the program.
Croce PTA has allocated funds to support this program, but it cannot be initiated until somone steps up to Lead this program. If you would like to gather more information about what this volunteer job involves, please contact Monica Baucke, Croce President or Shari Johnston, School Principal.
